At the heart of Travelpro® is a man who knew more about travel than most anyone in the world. A Northwest Airlines 747 pilot, Bob Plath had crisscrossed the globe a thousand times over, suitcase in tow. He’d seen, first hand, what happened to luggage over time, and the toll it took on the traveler hauling it. Bob knew there had to be something better. And as the saying goes, “if you want something done right, do it yourself.” So he did

Bob Plath created something completely novel. Something that would become the staple of travelers everywhere. A wheeled, carry-on suitcase pulled upright by an extendable handle. The Original Rollaboard®. What started as an idea to make Bob’s job easier, made the entire world of travel better. Flight crews and fellow pilots were quick to adopt the new, stylish wheeled luggage. And just as quickly, passengers recognized it as a smarter way to go. And soon, the Travelpro® Rollaboard® became every traveler’s companion.

Today, our garment bags, suitcases, executive briefcases, rolling travel duffel bags, totes and backpacks are the choice of more than ninety airlines and frequent travelers worldwide. We’re proud of our heritage of innovation, but will never rest on these laurels. We’re still listening to our customers, observing the world of travel, anticipating and delivering what frequent travelers need, just as we have from the beginning. And we’re not about to stop now.

Standing behind every piece of Travelpro® luggage is our foundational belief in quality and craftsmanship that goes above and beyond industry standards. We’ve seen enough suitcases that couldn’t stand up to the demands of frequent travel to know how to make one that can.

And to always ensure we do, we have dedicated extensive resources to our Quality Control Lab that puts each and every piece of luggage we make through a series of rigorous tests that dish out more distress than would ever be encountered under the most extreme travel conditions.

Our suitcases are tested above the maximum allowable weight for a checked bag and put through more than fifteen different trials, including distance, durability, and temperature to make sure all fabrics, wheels, zippers, handles, and overall bag design can exceed the toughest wear and tear from frequent travel.
